Cute, cute, cute!
Gosh. Favorite gift? All but one of my grown up kids were home. My cup runneth over.
There is always one thing that is going on that sort of pushes mom to hit the egg nog hard. This year it was the following conversation between me and my 21 year old son.
Dylan: “I’ve been thinking about getting a tattoo.”
Me: “You’re a grown man. You need to think these things out for yourself.”
Dylan: “Well, it would be a tattoo that you could not see while I was wearing a shirt. I don’t want to be some tattooed freak with no job.”
Me (very relieved): “What kind would you be talking about?”
Dylan waves a hand in the general area of the right side of his chest. “I was thinking about a torn flesh design, and what you would see where the flesh was torn was computer chips and gears, and stuff, like a robot.” Hindsight being 20-20, I should have noticed that although he’s waving his hand up and down his side, he’s not actually touching his side. Like it might be tender to the touch. Something like that.
I was aghast. In the words of a local car dealer, what he was talking about was ‘HUUUUUUHHHH-UUUUUUUGE.’ I responded quickly. “Why would you want to do something like that?”
Dylan was laughing. “Would you rather I got a fairy riding a unicorn chasing a butterfly heading into a rainbow?”
“No,” I allowed, “but, for heaven’s sake Dylan, that would take up your entire side. What is the point of a tattoo that size….”
At that point, Dylan pulled up his shirt to display his tattoo. I gasped. What passed by my lips will not pass by Ree, so I won’t even bother to recap that for you. Suffice it to say, I was shocked spitless.
